Welcome Back to BWYA
After the Chinese New Year break, we’d like to welcome everyone back! Here’s a quick run-down of what we have in store for the BWYA family in the coming weeks and months…
This Tuesday, our primary school was celebrating the first 100 days of school – with many ‘100-themed’ activities and games aimed at developing mathematical and reasoning abilities, as well as celebrating learning! Later this term in the primary school, we’re looking forward to the tongue-twisting Dr. Seuss Day, and International Day in March, followed by the fantastic celebration of athletics abilities that is the Primary School Sports Day in April.
With a number of football and basketball tournaments in the diary, we’re hoping the mighty BWYA Wolves can emulate previous seasons’ successes. The season kicks off this week with U14 boys and girls basketball matches at BWYA.
Next Tuesday at the secondary school, we’re looking forward to the Personal Projects (PP) exhibition. The PP helps students to develop skills such as self-management, research, communication, as well as critical and creative thinking. Students in Grade 10 will be putting together innovative and creative displays to share with the school community, presenting the findings of their independent learning.
On Saturday 2nd March, we’re excited for the Traditional Chinese Culture Fair being held at the UPC. The student-led event, featuring student and professional performances, as well as traditional Chinese food and arts, is set to be a great day!
On the 13th and 14th April, the secondary school students will be putting on a performance of The Sound of Music. With our grade 10 students already having worked very hard over the last weeks and months preparing props and costumes, learning lines, and practising the songs together, BWYA is alive, with the sound of music…. Tickets can be bought by scanning the QR code above.
Finally, the annual Classroom Without Walls Programme returns at the end of April, with trips planned all around China, and the world. A highlight of the student calendar for our primary and secondary school, as with previous years our students and teachers are all getting very excited as the tickets are bought, hotels booked, and visas stamped! The programme aims to encourage the BWYA community to explore new ways to teach, experience and learn within and beyond the school.
With so much to do before the Spring Break, we’re really looking forward to it – and we hope you are too! For more term dates, you can download the year calendar here.
