Festivities Begin with BWYA’s Musicians!
Last Friday (November 30th), our musical students had the fantastic opportunity to perform to the staff and guests of the Marriot Hotel in Central Beijing. As December 25th approaches, the hotel was turning on their Christmas lights, and to mark the event invited BWYA’s students to perform a number of Christmas songs in their lobby. Our orchestra and a small choir went along for the evening to help set the mood.
As our conductor Peter Herrera said, “BWYA students played and sang with their hearts, and with their mind. Sharing their international mindedness and holiday cheer.” And from looking around at the staff and guests, it was clear to see that holiday cheer flowing freely!
Head of Music, Jan Rues told us, “I am simply happy that our students got to have this experience. This included regular rehearsals, helping organise, move and set up the equipment, getting on a ‘tour’ bus, AND last but not least performing in public! All of this plus the shared joy of making music together!”
On behalf of the music department, we wish you a merry Christmas!
