LOCALLY GROUNDED, GLOBALLY AWARE
This is a phrase we often use in promotional materials to describe our school. This means that we seek to embrace our local heritage and culture while also recognising that 21st-century international education requires a global outlook and exposure to a world of great opportunities. Within this context, we are pragmatic, cooperative, and eager to work and learn together.
OUR STORY & HISTORY
Beijing World Youth Academy is a day school for Chinese and foreign students. With the approval of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the school was established in 2001. In 2003, being approved by Chaoyang District Education Commission we added a middle school, creating a unified secondary school. By 2014 we had a complete K-5 primary division, becoming a fully-fledged K-12 school. During this time, we have always offered the highest standards of education possible. Today, BWYA brings together over 1,200 students and 230 faculty and staff, representing more than 30 nationalities.
We work hard to create opportunities for students to be involved in society, using their knowledge and skills to solve practical problems and becoming a new generation of smart, dedicated, and caring young men and women, as well as proactive lifelong learners.
THE BWYA TIMELINE
Ms Wang Hong launched BWYA, offering students a range of domestic and international learning programmes.
We congratulated our first-ever graduates. The first of many!
We expanded its programmes to offer a high-quality education to middle school students.
We received authorisation to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP).
We celebrated our 10th anniversary.
This was the year we became a fully comprehensive K-12 school with the opening of our primary school.
After the success of our upper primary campus, we opened a dedicated lower primary campus.
We celebrated our 15th anniversary.
We registered with Cambridge and started offering this as an additional option for students.

We hit our 20th year of learning and teaching. This was a significant milestone for us and made us all realise how far we had come.
It's been an incredible journey and the school has evolved so much. We know the future is bright and we are so excited about what will happen next. We want you to be a part of that excitement!
