Alumni Stories - Cherry Yan
Cherry Yan, a proud member of the class of 2021, has recently shared her exciting news of being accepted into Harvard Graduate School of Design! Congratulations to her!
Her mother, speaking with immense pride, shared, “Over the seven years Cherry spent at BWYA, the IB curriculum nurtured her ability to think independently.” The well implemented IB programme at BWYA laid a firm foundation that she believes has set Cherry on a path to realising her true potential.
During her time at BWYA, Cherry was fascinated with the power of teamwork through her involvement in the grade 10 musical production. It was a process filled with joy and camaraderie, igniting a passion for music that continues to burn brightly as she actively participates in the diverse music groups at the Columbia University that she attends currently.
Mr. Haysom, her English teacher proudly reminiscing Cherry’s distinct qualities, particularly her curiosity that extends beyond academics to the world around her, which reflects her empathetic personalities.
Cherry’s inspiring advice to the young wolves is to not let the serendipitous moments of high school pass you by. Cherish the connections you make, for they have the potential to inspire and guide you in ways you can’t even imagine.
Thank you, Cherry, for sharing your incredible story and kindling a spark of inspiration within the next generation of BWYA graduates. Your journey from shyness to confidence, to embracing your strengths and weaknesses, are all testament to the transformative power of the BWYA experience. And a special thanks to Mdm. Zhao and Mr. Haysom for sharing your thoughts on Cherry’s journey in BWYA.
